Chip & Dale Campfire at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

Each night at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground you can join your silly friends Chip & Dale for a campfire sing-a-long, s'mores roast and Disney movie under the stars!  This event is completely free of charge and open to all guests, you do not have to be staying at Fort Wilderness to attend.  The events start about an hour before nightfall, you will want to double-check the time before your vacation.  It's generally 6 PM (winter months) or 7 PM (summer months) with the actual campfire starting an hour later.

Getting There
If you've never been to Fort Wilderness getting to this fantastic campfire celebration might seem a bit daunting...but don't worry - it's easy!

By Disney Transportation: If you are coming from a park, just take the Fort Wilderness bus directly to the campground.  If you are coming from another resort, first take a bus to any park or Downtown Disney, then take the Fort Wilderness bus.

By car: Driving to Fort Wilderness is easy, it's located near the Magic Kingdom.  When you enter the Fort, simply tell the guard you are there for the campfire and they will direct you to parking.

No matter which way you arrive, you will be in the front of the campground when you arrive.  From there you must take any internal Fort Wilderness bus to the Trading Post.  They all get there eventually, so just hop aboard the first internal bus that comes-and if you have any doubt, just ask the driver.  It's likely that many of the people boarding the bus with you will have the same destination in mind.

You will get off at the Trading Post, which is a general store with gift shop items, food, and general camping gear.  On the other side of this store is the outdoor theater - you can't miss it!

Before the Campfire
Before the actual event starts Chip & Dale will make an appearance for some fun games.  The night we attended the campfire they brought out horseshoes for the kids!

Chip & Dale joined right in!  They also made rounds meeting both the kids and adults, signing autograph books and posing for pictures.
The Campfire
Soon enough the fire pits were lit and Chip & Dale are officially announced and brought in by a selected family.  There is a fire pit on each side of the arena and you are welcome to bring your own roasting gear and food, or you can purchase some from the Chuck Wagon, which is located in the backside of the arena.  It sells marshmallows, s'mores kits, along with some hot dogs (pre-cooked!) and a few other items for dinner.  Many families brought hot dogs to roast over the fire too!

S'mores kit for $10: marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate, 2 skewers and wet wipes! We made 6 s'mores and had leftovers.

The fire pits get very busy!
Deeeeeelish!
While the fire pits are going, a cowboy gets on stage and starts to play simple songs on his guitar that get the whole crowd laughing and dancing.  He's a clever and family friendly entertainer!

There is space for the kids to run around and dance - and after eating marshmallows, that is just what they do!

Chip & Dale are also moving throughout the crowd for meet & greets.  You will only get to meet one and you don't get to choose which one - this was a bit of a disappointment for my son, as he really likes Dale, but only got to meet Chip.

The Movie
After about 30 minutes of singing and dancing they start the Disney movie.  The movie changes nightly and you can call to inquire the weekly line-up at 407-939-7529.

The Verdit
We all agreed!
This is a wonderful evening activity at Walt Disney World!  I would definitely recommend making time to do this on your next vacation.  I think it's a perfect little activity if you are staying at Walt Disney World for a night or two without parks before boarding Disney Cruise Line, or after a water parks or rest day!  Doing this activity after a full day in the theme parks might get to be a bit long-but still might be worth the adventure if you think you can last that long!
